Social Networking as an Educational Tool
Hello Everyone!! In this blog post aims to give a summary of an article which has the title Social Networking as an educational tool.Let's get to it :)
As you all can observe the internet and networking are placed in every aspect of our lives along side education domain. As the technology goes beyond many studies are conducted in that subject. They question that:How we can enhance the learning process by integrating technology into our courses and course designs? How teacher and students can make use of social networking and Web2.0 tools?
There are printed books written on that topic. If you are interested in this crucial topic you might as well read these books.I already try to use and write about these web 2.0 tools. But this time I wanted to look at from a general perspective.
As I concluded, from the very onset of Web1.0 researchers started doing researches about use of technologies in learning and teaching. There has been an remarkably improvement on acquiring information However with the Web2.0 ,Technologies have upgraded themselves and these tools gained a new superior level and reached a different dimension. As long as I understand The main difference between Web1.0 and Web 2.0 is that The content is user-generated rather than prepared by experts.Although this situation has some disadvantages,Its pros are certainly higher.Learners, their learning styles and their needs have changed. They no longer wait for the sources and materials They look for them to find and create their own materials by themselves. Also Teacher as well as students understood that group working, cooperative learning,be in a communicative manner and interactional activities are far better than individualistic acts.
Beyond that Research literature has changed too,Researches give more references to URLs rather than books and magazines.Even though many critics argue that if such technologies can replace printed books, it is clear that there is a place for both printed books and technology.Researchers can do their research about how to use web2.0 technologies by analyzing a book.
